Our Background

CriSys Limited was created for the sole purpose of developing the most advanced decision-support systems possible for responding to urgent requests for assistance.  9-1-1 and 3-1-1 systems are our sole business; they are not a sideline, nor are we a division of some larger, diversified conglomerate. We are also unique in that we are partly owned by the governments we serve. More than 30% of our annual budget is dedicated to research and development.

CriSys was established in 1990 by a team that had achieved some notable firsts in the field of computer-aided dispatch software: the world's first microcomputer-based CAD system in 1978 (on a Radio Shack TRS-80 with only 16K of memory and cassette storage!)  and the world’s first map-enabled CAD system (implemented in 1984 for the 1986 World’s Fair in Vancouver).

Within months of start-up, CriSys introduced IntelliMap/911, our first product for the emergency services market. It pioneered mouse-driven, GUI-centric operator controls and true map-based operation (i.e., actually performing dispatch operations on the map, instead of it being a static display function only).  IntelliMap/911 was also the first CAD to bring such advanced technologies as distributed processing to a PC-platform system.
